Real leather

Our kits use real Scottish leather.
Get to know its grain, how it folds and how the pieces come together as you stitch. This is leathercraft with the real material.
- Leather made from animal hide
- Fabric backing, thread and tools listed separately
PU imitation
This is a plastic bag!
Example marketplace listing - not our product
Everyday PU leather satchel bag
Material: polyurethane (PU)
PU is plastic.
PU stands for polyurethane. In a synthetic imitation, this plastic coats a backing to imitate leather. The word “leather” on the listing does not change the material underneath.
The listing and rating are illustrative. They do not represent our products or a particular retailer.
Polyurethane can also be used as a finish on real leather. This comparison is about synthetic imitations sold as “PU leather”, not every material with a PU coating.
Your first kit, explained.
You can explore the stitching guide before you choose your project.
Learn to saddle stitchCan I try a kit if I have never worked with leather?
Yes. The cutting and hole-punching are already done. Both the wallet and card-holder kits have illustrated assembly instructions, with a separate saddle-stitch guide to help you learn the stitch.
What comes with a kit?
Pre-cut leather panels, waxed thread, two sewing needles and thread snips. Each product page shows its own colourway and the components supplied.
Is it real leather?
Yes. The leather panels come from Scottish tanneries. Any fabric backing, thread and other kit components are described separately.
Can I see the instructions before choosing?
Yes. Follow the wallet instructions or card-holder instructions online, or download the printable guides. The saddle-stitch guide shows how to thread the needles and work each stitch.
Are the kits suitable for children?
For ages 12 and over. The kits contain sharp needles and snips, so children need adult supervision. Keep tools and small components away from younger children.
Can I choose a different colour?
Use the colour chips or the photo selector on a product page to explore the available colourways. Each colour has its own page and matching product images.
