Assembly instructions

Step 1

Make two halves
Stitch an inner pocket to each back piece along the straight bottom row only. You now have two halves.

- Place an inner pocket on a back piece, with the wave at the top. Match the holes.
- Saddle stitch only the straight bottom row.
- Stitch back through two holes, then trim the thread. Repeat with the second inner pocket and back piece.
Step 2

Add the front pockets

Black kit shown. Match your pieces by shape.

Position a front pocket over each half. Bring the two backs together, pockets facing out. Line up the outer holes.
Step 3

Stitch it all together
Stitch the sides and bottom through every layer with a matching hole, including the front pockets. Leave all pocket openings clear.

- Put the two halves back to back, with the leather faces outwards.
- Stitch down one side, across the bottom and up the other side. Pass through every layer with a hole.
- Leave the top and every pocket opening unstitched.
- Finish each seam by stitching back through two holes. Trim the thread on the least visible side.

Check your pieces

Lay out the six panels

Sort the six pieces into three pairs. Keep the curved pocket openings at the top.

2 back pieces
2 inner pockets
2 front pockets

Use the same steps for every kit colour.

Need help threading and saddle stitching?

Cut thread about five times the seam length. Put a needle on each end. Centre the thread in the first hole. At each next hole, pass the needles through from opposite sides, one at a time. Pull snug.
